Big Men And Women With Big Personalities

I got the idea for this article from  How To Change Your Personality, can it be changed? By Scott Barry Kaufman from The Atlantic. It made me think of people I am aquainted with that I have always been curious about, especially big and small men, big and small women also. In the small circle I grew up in (and loved), I found that this particular group had very distinctive mannerisms. http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2016/07/can-personality-be-change                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   This does not by any means apply to all big people, just some, as I said, who are in my circle, thoes I grew up with and others I met while growing into adulthood.                                                                                                                                                                                                        I observed that the very big and the very small both possessed very LARGE personalities.  If you’ve read any of my posts, you would know that my Father and my Husband are large men, not the largest but…big men. My Mom was a tiny woman, I guess I am in between, 5’3, 146lbs.  Both of these men were Giant Teddy Bears, lovable, enjoyed life and wanted all who was around them to be happy and enjoy life also. As with most of the others I know, they had a sense of wit that drew people to them. I found most of them to be very generous and kind and was not the lest bit conscious or apologetic of their size.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    In observing the small man, they have HUGE personalities. They also possess a sense of wit, are very confident and competitive,  They will tackle almost any task and conquer it. I found that most of them, the men and women are very smart people.                                                                                                                                                                                                                I observed that the women, large or small, are especially smart and are not afraid of anything. One of my longtime friends, who is obese, possess all of the above personality traits I’ve written about, told me that she had been taunted throughout childhood for being overweight, this, she said made her determined to always be one step ahead of her tormentors, in her way of thinking, she made herself better and smarter. When she was called names pertaining to her size, she would come back with, ” I’ld rather be fat and smart than dumb.”                                                                                                                           punctuation-marks-1019729_640                                                                                                                                                          None of us picked who we are, we did not pick our parents, our gender, where we were born, none of these things. Did we choose our personality? Oh boy! I believe we are born with certain traits as well as genes (we know this) given to us from our lineage, as we develop, we pick up whatever is in our universe, as our mind matures and we begin our personal growth, along with many, many fluctuations, our personalities develop, part intentional, part because it’s in your blood.(as the old folk use to say) and part because of the environment you live in.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        This is a very interesting subject to me, I’ve always wondered what makes people act the way they do. I know that there are so many variables for all people, but my main curiosity has been what makes you good, what makes you bad, what makes you so likeable, what repels you from a good person or draws you to a bad person, why are most big people happier than than most?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     I am really interested in what others think, please comment or send me a reply @ https://bigmenfashionfootwear.com                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               shop@emails.macys.com

Size Discrimination or Gender Discrimination?

Just read an article by Kristine Solomon, Style and Beauty writer, about a study done on plus size women being forced to wear men’s workout clothes. This hit pretty close to home. I’ve written about the big men in my life and some of the struggles I’ve had finding good looking clothes that would fit them and I may have mentioned my daughter who  had similar problems, finding clothes that  fit.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                         work-out-1539614__180

Even though finding clothes for different body sizes has improved over the past years,                                                                                                                                                                          my daughter still go to the men section to look for workout pants because she is tall and the                                                                                                                                                              pants found in the regular women section are too short.

In other words, according to Kristine Solomon, a plus-size woman who wants to look good and feel good about her workout can’t pull on some cute activewear and head to the gym like a thinner woman could — even though the average American woman is close to a size 18, according to other research by the study’s co-author, Assistant Professor Deborah Christel of WSU.

Instead, the study shows that plus-size women have no choice but to shop the men’s department for workout gear. “There’s a societal expectation that I think is communicated in clothing availability,” said Christel to NBC. “Companies are saying it’s OK for a guy to be big because we are offering guy clothing, but it’s not OK for a woman to be big because we are cutting it off at a certain size.”

Big sized women want to look cute in their workout fashion, high end designers need to                                                                                                                                                                  be aware of this.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    woman-1510254_1920                                                                                                                                                                                            Imagine  an overweight teenager realizes that working out is good for the mind, body and soul and decides to join a good exercise program but cannot find pretty clothes to work out in, this sounds petty to some but can be very discouraging to a teenager.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Swim suits are designed to be flattering to the plus size body, why can’t the                                                                                                                                                   fashion designers do the same with workout apparel?                                                                                                                                                                                                                              How about this article from AllHipHop News, which is all good, my point is you see more positive things about big men than you see of big women. I must say, It’s much better now than when I was growing up and clothes was a very important part of my life, I’m just saying that I hear a more positive, accepting vibe when big men are the topic as apposed to women being the topic. This is only my opinion.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       AllHipHop News) Maybach Music Group rapper Fat Trel will flex his modeling skills during New York Fashion Week this September.

Fat Trel is among the models who will hit the runway to promote Troy Adkins’ Volare collection for the Big & Tal men’s category.

On Wednesday, September 14, Adkins will debut his latest collection at an exclusive, private location in New York.

In addition to Fat Trel, Jamal “Gravy” Woolard and Comedian/actor, Faizon Love will walk down the runway representing big and tall men.
Volare bills itself as an upscale streetwear brand “for the Big & Tall fashion enthusiast.”

Yes, I am aware of the fashion shows for the big woman, and I appreciate the awareness they bring, it just seems more accepting and popular for the big man.                                        I think big women as well as big men look great in clothes designed for their body size and type. When advertising for men or women apparel. I think all sizes should be included.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Have you encountered this problem or one similar? please leave a comment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 https://bigmenfashionfootwear.com

Make sure you have room to move comfortably, sleeves long enough, landing just about where the wrist bones meet the hand bones. You want to make sure your jacket or blazer hang flat, in a fluid motion and the flaps do not stick out, no gapping or bulging in the chest and stomach area. You want your pants to hang in a fluid motion also, long enough to touch the top half of your shoes. For the big man, be very careful of colors, you want your basic suit to be versatile, suitable to wear to church or out on a date with your favorite girl. Choose a basic subtle color being very careful with plaids or stripes, which in some cases cam make you look round, boxed in or shaggy. This is what you want to start with. You can build from this basic suit, look for accessories that complement you wearing the suit, shoes, shirt, socks and tie. You can build your wardrobe now, you know your size, the cut that hangs nicely on you and colors that compliment you.  fashion-1029438__180                                                                                                                           Big men who read my post, please comment on problems you may have encountered when shopping for a suit or any other clothing item.   contact me at https://bigmenfashionfootwear.com
